2020 Covid 19 Relief-Nyanza Region

Help for Covid-19 Relief Kenyan Pastors Antioch Baptist Migori Area Nyanza Region

The Nyanza region has been hit very hard.  The Government of Kenya shut down the country due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  This is bad enough anywhere in the world but in an already depressed area, you couple this with unusually heavy rainfall, destroyed crops, mandatory curfew with house lock-downs and you have a recipe for a major disaster.  Many Kenyans have lost their jobs and the ability to provide for their families.  Houses are dilapidating due to the the constant rain in normally arid regions. Homes are mostly built out of local resources, inferior products like cow dung mixed with straw, sticks and mud.  Many homes have been washed away by rising rivers and plain flooding.  We are raising funds to go directly to each pastor in this area to supply food for their family for 2 months and rent where needed.  Many are doing jobs that are not safe such as gathering sand (building material) from crocodile infested rivers  just to keep their family alive. The video below shows Pastor Robert taking a bucket of sand from one such river.  He is paid 2KSh per bucket or .02 cents usd per bucket.  He can get up to 50 buckets per day.   He can make up to 1 usd a day and gets paid every three days.  This only supplies a meager 1 meal per child and adult of maize per day for his family of 12.  Hardly enough to survive on.  We are standing with our brothers and sisters in Christ to assist in this unprecedented time of pain and struggle.

There are eight pastors and families in this area.

Notice Pastor Robert looking out for Crocodiles.  The children in the river with him are not his but local children trying to make money for their families as well.
