Covid-19 Pandemic now turns to everyday life

Now that Covid is just part of everyday life, we have moved forward and are resuming raising funds for current issues that face our Kenyan brothers and sisters.  Currently drought has overtaken most of the country.  Crops are failing and water is in short supply in many areas.  The Bee project is on going but handicapped due to the drought conditions and is slow in its progression.  Our support is most needed in these trying times.  Kerring for Kenya appreciates all the support from our loyal brothers and sisters.  We are at our core all one family.

Temporary help during Covid-19 Pandemic

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic we are currently raising money to assist in the relief efforts to our pastors and their families.  Many are facing starvation and homelessness.  The pastors with parsonages on church property are safe but many rent homes and have no way to pay the rent.  Most business are shut down due to the pandemic and food is in short supply.  Where food is available prices have more than doubled since the Covid-19 outbreak.

What we do…

Kerring for Kenya supports the efforts of Antioch Baptist Church of Kenya.  We believe that helping the trained pastors of Antioch Baptist Church secure first, a parsonage (home), and then equip them with training and tools necessary to provide income to sustain their families will relieve the heavy burden often associated with establishing a church in impoverished areas in Kenya.  Our churches are built many times in remote disadvantaged areas.  With the relief of not having to pay rent for a home, the pastor can concentrate more on his efforts of spreading the gospel. The burden of full-time employment outside the church is alleviated and they are more secure in their location.

How we do it…

We help each pastor become self sufficient through education and initiatives that provide income for their family.  Often it is as simple as purchasing equipment and providing a small amount of training to allow them to subsidize their income.  The Bee Initiative is one such effort.  Projects have included sewing machines, welders, computer training, fishing nets, and many other options relevant to the areas they live.

Without providing this type training and stimulus the need for support becomes unending.  With proper training and guidance a pastor can can become self-sustaining and create wealth to bring himself and even his community out of poverty.  Many pastors often become the mentors and coaches of their communities.
