2020 Ulanda Church Project

Covid-19 Update

Due to the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic the Ulanda Project is on hold until the mandatory curfew is lifted in Kenya.  We are focusing much of our relief efforts in providing food and housing for our pastors and their families during this unprecedented time in Kenya.  All Ulanda Church donations will be applied to the Ulanda project when we are allowed to continue with building and securing resources.  We pray this happens soon.

We are raising funds to build a Mabati Style Church on this property.  This will move the current church from a 6×6 foot room on the corner of a house (photo above) to a 30ft x 60ft church.  The owner of the house has been kind to allow the congregation to meet at her home but member numbers have grown and caused crowding issues and problems during rainy weather. The new property is not rented but owned by Antioch Church of Kenya. A Mabati style Church is the first step in establishing a new church facility on new land.  A permanent Brick structure will be built later when the congregation reaches 100 plus members.  These structures can last up to 15 years utilizing wood poles for framing and metal sheets for walls and ceilings.  The floor will be concrete and utilized when it changes to a brick structure.  The Mabati structure can be moved to the next church location or utilized for a schooling and class room building. The children holding their hands in the church steeple pattern are showing their need and prayers for a new church home.

These photos are of some of the improvements recently completed to the new property just purchased December 2019 in Ulanda, Kenya.  It has been cleared of sugar cane, culverts installed and currently being fenced.  It is now ready to start construction of the Church facilities.  Its approximate size is (0.20 hectare) 0.5 acre or 1/2 acre. Clarification needed for different countries.
